Tesco still in favour

Article Abstract:

Tesco is a UK supermarket chain which is favored by stock brokers. Four brokers from a sample of six rate the shares a buy, while two rate the shares a hold. Buyers include Williams de Broe and UBS, which see Tesco as performing well within the sector. NatWest Securities sees Tesco as likely to see gross margins under pressure as Sainsbury's seeks to increase volume. BZW is not concerned over competition in gasoline retailing. Tesco in its sector

Article Abstract:

Tesco has performed well among UK food retailers, though some analysts have doubts about the sector. Three brokers from a sample of six rate the company's shares a buy, two rate them a hold, and one is a seller. The buyers are Kleinwort Benson, Peel Hunt and Charterhouse Tilney. Credit Lyonnais Laing sees Sainsbury as offering better value and is a holder, as is Paribas, which is becoming more negative on food retailing. Nikko Securities is the seller and is also concerned about the sector.
