The Presidency in Prospect and in Retrospect

Article Abstract:

Gerald Daniel accepts the office as president of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in the United Kingdom on October 7, 1983. He cites beliefs of expanding the Institute beyond pure accountancy. He states his views of the value for money, CIPFA value in the private sector, and the Institute's position in the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies. Outgoing Institute president, Keith Bridge, is also interviewed shortly after learning that he has lost his job. Despite some criticism, he is proud of his year as president. He comments on the demands of the presidency on one's life, but declines to comment on its affect on his employment - whether that played a factor in losing his job.
