Article Abstract:

Recruitment processes have not changed much, but many job-seekers spoil their changes through elementary errors according to director of Finsbury Consulting, recruitment consultants. Many job candidates are eliminated on the strength or weakness of their CVs. CVs should give a record of the candidate's action and success, rather than just concentrating on a job description. A covering letter should be sent with the CV explaining reasons for wanting the job and reasons for leaving the current job.

Proteus is a UK drug designer which is raising new equity and is likely to need more by Christmas 1995. The company will need funds unless costs are reduced of income is generated from a new source. Kevin Gilmore is Proteus' chairman and forecasts that revenue will be generated from 1995. The company is placing hopes on a compound used for vaccine administration, which is to be tested by two big pharmaceutical concerns. Proteus' drug design software has yet to be proven.

Major British companies areincreasingly using technique such as graphology and psychometric testing as part of theirrecruitment procedures. Handwriting analysis can determine underlying personality traits andeven the early stages of illnesses, such as motor neurone disease, Parkinson's disease and somecancers. Psychometric testing involves forms of verbal or numerical reasoningtests.
