The effect of glycogen depletion on the curvature constant parameter of the power-duration curve for cycle ergometry

Article Abstract:

The link between power P (watts) and its tolerable duration t (secs) has been well characterized for high-intensity constant load cycle ergometer exercise, by the hyperbolic relationship. The physiological basis of the curvature constant W1 has received little consideration, and W1 is thus examined under conditions where the muscle glycogen state was experimentally manipulated. The results appear to indicated that muscular glycogen stores are an important determinant of W1 of the power-duration curve for cycle ergometry.

Measurement of specific movement power application: Evaluation of weight lifters

Article Abstract:

A dynamometer was developed to measure specific movement power (SMP) exerted by mono- or multi-articular movements. Test protocols were undertaken for six movement types, arm pull (AP), leg rise (LR), knee extension (KE), hip extension (HE), squat movement (SQ) and elbow flexion (EF). The new dynamometer was sufficient to evaluate the SMP.

Control error statistics

Article Abstract:

Manual control is a traditional topic in ergonomics and many studies have concentrated on vehicular control or tracking, using the root mean square (RMS) error. However additional or alternative performance measurements may be more appropriate, and some new statistics are presented.
