The ethical turn and the workplace

Article Abstract:

Evidence suggests that Western businesses are increasingly motivated by ethical concepts. This evidence includes a growing interest in ethical investment amd ethical purchasing, and the increasing prevalence of laws, directives and codes of practice on service standards and working practices. Studies show that workers are agents in the ethical revolution, and ergonomists are well-placed to be part of this employee influence.

A knowledge-based system for optimizing workplace layouts using a genetic algorithm

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the application of a knowledge-based system in the design of work environment. A commercially available hybrid development device is usedto design the system. The system is then linked to a database of anthropometricdata and an optimization program which is based on a genetic algorithm. Geneticalgorithms and expert systems tested for the study are described.

Whatever happened to integrity?

Article Abstract:

The company's management should cautiously monitor the ethical aspects of its projects such as promotional advertisements and sales tactics. Any wrongdoing in a company must be immediately corrected by the management since it is the one in charge of preserving the company's integrity. It should inculcate among the employees the sense of respect for clients, co-employees and suppliers.
