The future of free

Article Abstract:

The Zeitung zum Sonntag and Der Sonntag are Sunday admags that are financed mainly by advertising revenues and are distributed for free. The former has an editorial content of 95%, with high editorial costs as one of the risks that it has to deal with. On the other hand, 15 Uhr Aktuell is a daily tabloid newspaper that is also distributed free in Berlin and Hamburg, with a circulation as high as 200,000 copies. It is possible that the free tabloids may proliferate in the medium-term if they are commercially viable.
