The genome sequence of the anaerobic, sulfate-reducing bacterium Desulfovibrio vulgaris Hildenborough

Article Abstract:

Desulfovibrio vulgaris Hidenborough is a model organism used to study the energy metabolism of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and also for understanding the economic impacts of SRB, including biocorrosion of metal infrastructure and bioremediation of toxic metal ions. This genome sequence represents a substantial step toward the elucidation of pathways for reduction of pollutants such as uranium and chromium

Complete genome sequence of the plant commensal Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf-5

Article Abstract:

The complete sequence of Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf-5 genome is determined and the repeat sequences to identify genomic islands are analyzed that suggest P.fluorescens Pf-5's existing lateral acquisitions include six secondary metabolite gene clusters, seven phase regions and a mobile genomic island. The various features that contribute to its commensal lifestyle on plants are identified.

Genome sequence and identification of candidate vaccine antigens from the animal pathogen Dichelobacter nodosus

Article Abstract:

Genome sequence and identification of candidate vaccine antigens from the animal pathogen Dichelobacter nodosus is described. The genome of Dichelobacter nodosus is small but despite its small size almost 20% genome is derived from lateral gene transfer and most of these regions seem to be associated with virulence.
