From the time cash management banks have had to make transitions to bank Web sites, treasurers, including Kingsport, Tennessee-based Eastman Chemical Co.Es Jim Maddox, have been bewailing the loss of the smooth data flow of dial-up connections. However, some recently launched technologies, such as the Web or HTML, BancBridge Software Systems Inc.Es software TreasuryAgent, or Automated Web Scripting (AWS) from Gateway Systems Inc., are effective substitutes for dial-up systems.

Paper and numerous data entry workers at both banks and corporations are being replaced by digital images, image archives, Internet access and data captured automatically by intelligent character recognition (ICR) readers. These have revolutionized the world of lockboxes by putting digital lockboxes in the picture.
