Investigation of diurnal variation in sustained exercise performance

Article Abstract:

A study was undertaken to compare differences and responses in exercise intensities performed separately in mornings and evenings. It was hypothesized that task performance is influenced by circadian rhythms such as body temperature and wakefulness. Findings revealed that thermal stress induced by set exercise intensity does not manifest diurnal variation and regulation of body temperature changed with a circadian function. Sustained exercise performance conducted in the morning was not inhibited by low body temperature pre-start.

The influence of exercise and dehydration on postural stability

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the impact of exercise-induced and thermal dehydration on postural balance in a sample of male subjects who exercised without drinking (NF) and had an intake of a carbohydrate-electrolyte solution (FR). Results revealed that the mean velocity of the center of pressure excursion after the exercise was higher in the NF than in the FR trial. Postural stability was not affected by fluid replacement. These suggested that prolonged exercise without fluid ingestion negatively affects postural stability.
