The new mobility

Article Abstract:

New materials and technologies are driving greater interest in designing for mobile lifestyles and prefabricated architecture. It is estimated that 2.8 million Americans live full-time in recreational vehicles, while manufactured housing accounted for 35% of the growth in home ownership in non-metropolitan areas and 23% of gains in low-inco me households in 2002, says a study from Harvard. These trends, combined with the rise of mobile communications technologies, have spurred designers to work on more creative options in the field of mobile architecture.
