Linux is becoming more popular than Microsoft among many companies as it promises to remove license fees, reduce hardware costs, and minimize the risk of unplanned downtime by improving reliability and security. Linux can play a fundamental role in the economic development strategy of developing countries, whereas the high cost of Windows can hold back the progress of an entire nation and thus the low-cost alternative is popular with business users.

Hidden hazards

There are concerns about the safety of cellular telephones, fungus on computers and electrical and electronic equipment waste. More research must be done to determine current and future health hazards of these items.
