The terminator meets Mr Complacent

Article Abstract:

Demand for outsourcing is increasing in the UK as the public and private sectors are pushed to increase efficiency and cut costs. Contracts are becoming bigger and involve increasing amounts of technical expertise, which favors the larger outsourcing enterprises. Contracting out began in the UK with simple tasks such as cleaning, and has spread to technical operations such as management of information technology. The UK market could grow by an annual level of 25% between 1996 and 2000.

They think they're going to make it

Article Abstract:

Some companies face severe problems yet still manage to recover. This is the case of Next, which is included in the UK FT-SE 100. Ratners, which also suffered serious problems, has not undergone such a recovery. A successful recovery depends on a number of factors such as having the right boss, taking appropriate action, and good luck. Companies may need a clearer focus if they have diversified unwisely. Disposals may both contribute cash and stem losses.
