The adoption of a cardless purchasing program proved instrumental in simplifying freight settlement processes at Red Line Extended Care. Red Line officials decided to implement the PowerTrack purchasing program, which was developed by US Bank in Minneapolis, after they found the company's freight settlement cumbersome, representing 90% of its invoice-processing time. The program utilizes a comprehensive online data in assuring that freight invoice numbers are not duplicated and properly monitored.

Information technology has produced a generation of treasurers that have less skill in judging credible information and have less skill in maneuvering the ins and outs of the trade without a computer. Information technology has been facilitative in increasing participation but it has also resulted in an increase of business expectations. Moreover, the personal relations side of the profession has been neglected with the advance of the information age.
