Thorn EMI

Article Abstract:

Thorn EMI is a UK music publisher which also operates retail outlets. The group's music publishing division, EMI, has seen a rise in both profit and sales for the six months to Sep 1995. The HMV chain has 314 retail outlets, and includes 95 bookshops using the Dillons logo. Losses rose for the retail outlets in the above period, but they tend to perform well at Christmas. A separation of the different divisions is possible, and EMI has been valued at 5 billion pounds sterling by Kleinwort Benson, with Thorn valued at 2 billion pounds, and HMV at 350 million pounds.
