Torex acquired Smart Terminals in Mar 1996 for 4.83 million pounds sterling and has moved into the expanding market of computer systems geared to the retail industry. The company is involved in niche markets such as loyalty cards and links between back office systems and point of sale systems. Torex has restructured its outlets to cut costs by eliminating duplication. The company's profit is forecast at 1.35 million pounds sterling for 1996 rising to 1.9 million pounds for 1997 by Albert E Sharp.
