Eddie George, governor of the Bank of England,is seeking a rate rise, and strong retail sales mean there is pressure on the government to raise rates. Eight regional Federal Reserve banks in the US from a total of 12 are in favor of a rate rise, but since their decision, data has been released showing a drop in inflation. US rates could affect UK shares, but the reaction of the capital market will affect this.
