Article Abstract:

URS Corp posted a 120% leap in profits for the fiscal nine months through July 1992. CEO Martin Koffel remarked that the growth in profits and 13% increase in revenues were accomplished despite project delays. The company is taking advantage of higher margins and reduced interest costs from the company's payment of 3/4 of its debts to push through with plans for major infrastructure and environmental projects. The projects include renovation of the main library of the Cleveland Public Library and design and engineering of the Pentagon.

Interstate/Johnson Lane, Inc (IS) posted its sixth consecutive quarter of rising profits. IS gained 7.5% in revenues during the latest quarter of 1992. CEO Parks Dalton remarked that the relatively low increase in revenue was indicative of the market's return to normalcy. IS' June quarter profit of $2.3 million was the company's largest since its emergence from a three-year slump. Dalton credited the company's Fixed Income and Interstate Group divisions and new account executives for the quarter's sterling performance.
