Use of visual perception in estimating static postural stresses: magnitudes and sources of errors

Article Abstract:

The visual estimation of body posture involved in studies that estimate postural classification of people performing tasks on video screens is subject to a sometimes high degree of error. Upper extremity postures were found to be especially hard to classify using purely visual data. Lower extremity positions were found to influence a measurer's assumptions about wrist and arm placement, and neutral and non-neutral postures were harder to identify than flexion and extension.

An epidemiological appraisal instrument - a tool for evaluation of epidemiological studies

Article Abstract:

A general purpose epidemiological appraisal instrument (EAI) is developed and tested for evaluating the quality of existing or new ergonomic epidemiological studies by using a critical appraisal system rooted in epidemiological principles. The EAI instrument is found to be a valid and reliable appraisal instrument that can be used in different applications, such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
