Millenium: waiting for the millenium

Article Abstract:

Millenium is a UK automobile dealer which failed to acquire Helston Garages, leaving the company with a Unipart franchise and a Rover dealership. The company has a franchise for a new model of the MG sports vehicle, covering the bulk of north London, England, and this should help boost the company's growth. The company's ability to grow through acquisitions has been affected by a share offer not raising as much in funds as had been expected. More funds may have to be raised for further acquisitions.

Henlys keeps options open

Article Abstract:

Henlys faces competition in the UK automobile distribution market. The company may withdraw from motor vehicle distribution if price competition between motor vehicle producers does not ease in the UK. The company reported a profit of 7.5 million pounds sterling for 1995, when sales were 330 million pounds, with an 8% profit rise for that year. Increased pressure is leading to many dealers issuing profit warnings, and consolidation is likely among UK dealers.
