VAT update: Carousel fraud- the end of the road

Article Abstract:

The Federation of Technological Industries seems to have reached a dead end in its judicial review process against the Revenue & Customs in the Finance Act 2003 legislation on imposing joint and several liability, in certain cases, and the potential for the provision of security upon the participants in a supply chain of certain electrical goods after proving that a fraud was present in the chain after the rejection of the Sixth Directive by the European Court of Justice. The legislation provides provisions for the Revenue to impose similar burdens on business under the particular registration.
