Value pay

Article Abstract:

Faupel Trading buys and sells textile products and is the UK selling agent for Chinatex, the textile sales company of the Chinese government. Faupel has been affected by European Union investigations into allegations of dumping and increases in import duties have hit orders. Much of the company's supplies come from Bangladesh, India and China, and are purchased in pound sterling. The company could develop its links with China to deal in products other than textiles, but aims to focus on textiles and develop organically.

Hamlet dressed up for a change of image

Article Abstract:

Hamlet is a UK clothing importer which has seen a rise in pre-tax profit for 1995 and has resisted pressure to reduce prices. The company's shares have underperformed, and there are concerns over Hamlet's relations with suppliers and appears heavily geared due to payment of suppliers as soon as they ship goods. The timing of the company's financial year is to be changed which will give a less distorted picture of its finances. The company's shares are recommended to investors in Feb 1996.
