Visual accomodation as a cue for size

Article Abstract:

The close relation between accommodation and other oculomotor functions makes its impossible to establish a causal relationship between accommodation and certain types of micropsia. The link between accommodation and vergence is significant because vergence is the most probable propitiative feedback hinting object distance, but even this relationship is complicated by numerous other factors. The effects of accommodation on cue size perception is discussed.

Gaze angle: a possible mechanism of visual stress in virtual reality headsets

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on virtual stress resulting form the use of virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMD). The particular source of visual stress considered is the inappropriate vertical gaze angle. Six participants were subjected to five different gaze angles to measure the heterophoria after using the VR HMD. Results showed that the stress placed upon the vergence eye movement system during use of HMD partly depends on the vertical gaze.

Ordinal depth information from accommodation?

Article Abstract:

Retinal and extraretinal cues provide information regarding an object's egocentric distance. It was concluded by Fisher and Ciuffreda that the question of whether accommodation information plays a part in human distance perception was unanswered. Experiments replicating their results are reported, providing little support for the idea that accommodation provides useful distance information.
