Keeping up with the Dow Jones

Article Abstract:

Investors can obtain information on stocks using the internet, and there is more information free of charge, even on live data. Charles Stanley offers its Xest service with free realtime news, and Market Eye offers a two-tier service, with a 20-minute delay for the free Investor service. Pricing is not consistent, so investors can obtain better deals by shopping around. There are also portfolio trackers, and bulletin boards that allow interaction with other investors.

Golden retrievers

Article Abstract:

The internet is a useful source of financial information, but search terms have to be specified precisely in order to keep hits at manageable levels. Investors may only need a few sites. Yahoo offers stock price quotes, company profiles and news, while Financewise is a search tool with large number of sites. Market Eye offers price display services. There are also news sites, and subscribers may be able to gain free access, as is the case with The Economist.
