Zivnobanka's owner expects help

Article Abstract:

Zivnostenska banka (ZB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, saw a profit of CEK 244 mil in 2000. ZB's owner is the bank Bankgesellschaft Berlin (Berlin, Germany), which has begun to have problems and needs financial support to avert its existential crisis. Reasons for the troubles are the bank's high losses from transactions with immovable assets. The troubles should not have any negative influence over ZB.

Komercni Banka shuts down representative offices abroad

Article Abstract:

Komercni banka (KB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, will shut down all its representative offices abroad as of end Mar 2001. The step is to save KB operating costs in a total amount of CEK 50 mi/y. The offices are located in London in the UK, Fankfurt in Germany, Warsaw in Poland, and Budapest in Hungary. The shut-down is related to the expected acquisition of KB by a strategic partner.
