There are many large companies operating in Bradford, England. They include National Provincial and Bradford and Bingley, both savings and loan associations. The city has had to develop new sources of employment due to the decline of the textile industry. Entrepreneurial effort has come from the immigrant community, especially the restaurant trade. Ingredients are produced in Bradford for restaurants in London. A skilled labor force is attractive to employers.

Leisure schemes usually include motion picture theaters, the number of which is set to increase.

Exporters from Manchester, England which have penetrated eastern European markets include J.N. Nichols which makes Vimto. Sales of Vimto in Russia are estimated at some 41.25 million cans for 1996. Russia ranks second among the company's export markets, behind the Middle East. Meanwhile, Grimley, a Manchester surveyor, is giving advice to the Polish government on privatization of the mining industry. Flexibox is also exporting to Poland and Russia.
