William Haseltine

Former chief executive officer (CEO) of Human Genome Sciences, William Haseltine's survey of India's research and development infrastructure has led him to believe that it is possible for developing countries to benefit from drugs that are tested in their territory by virtual company outsourcing. Haseltine visualizes a network of virtual companies in the US managing every step of drug development, ranging from discovery and development to manufacturing.

Monsanto branches out into fruits and vegetables

Article Abstract:

Monsanto, which produces genetically, modified fruits and vegetable has acquired Seminis, a US fruit and vegetable seed outfit for $1.4 billion. The company is also quite capable of attempting to introduce genetically modified fruit and vegetables in markets where it believes that it can succeed like the United States and Canada.

Mexico launches bold genome project

Mexico has launched a race-based genome project to determine if a genetic basis exists for its growing health crisis. The goal is to drive insights into genetic differences, believed to be unique to its population, that might play a key role in chronic diseases like asthma, diabetics and hypertension.
