The innovations in information technology have afforded chartered accountants the capability to work more efficiently and cater to the needs of their clients with more precision. The advancement in computer networks and data communications has enabled firms to use electronic working papers, which provide better links between distant team members and managers through the transfer of pertinent data. Accountants can gain in terms of cost and time-savings while providing value-added services to their clients.

An increasing market demand for integrated financial services has led to a shift toward the creation of multidisciplinary partnerships (MDPs), which are an ideal solution to this demand. Several accounting firms are already proffering services which integrate accounting skills with the skills of other professions. Moreover, the move toward MDPs is more extensive in many European nations and in a number of areas in the US and Australia.
