Workers with disabilities represent huge potential labor pool in tight market

Article Abstract:

Employers who are desperate for skilled workers in the tight US labor market may be able to find talented staff from the pool of disabled people. Arizona Bridge to Independent Living Exec Dir Susan Webb stressed that employers are not the problem for disabled people who want and are able to work. The problem lies in entitlement programs, such as the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program, that have strong, built-in dis-incentives which trap disabled people in long-term unemployment.
