Article Abstract:

Food and beverage gifts have become a useful means to complement Americans' newfound love for cooking and fine dining. Whether at home or in a restaurant, an increasing number of consumers are experimenting with new dishes. Their interest has been piqued by entertaining television food shows conducted by popular culinary celebrities such as Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, Ming Tsai and Bobby Flay. These celebrities have elevated food and dining to a higher level and made the public aware of high quality products. Thus, consumers tend to associate food gifts, which are generally expensive, with luxury.

Sellers of various products and services are adopting target marketing and costumization in an effort bring convenience to consumers and allow them to make purchases through catalogs, telephone or the Internet. However, the strategies are also getting negative feedbacks from consumers who do not want their personal information to be be used without their authorization. Thus, some companies are focusing on assuring their customers about privacy protection as the central pitch of their marketing strategy.

Businesses with senior managers under the age of 40 have a greater success pattern compared to organizations with older top executives, according to the American Management Association's Senior Management Teams: Profiles and Performance Survey. Moreover, Bruce Tulgan, president of New Haven, CT-based consulting firm Rainmaker Thinking, said young senior managers are more flexible in giving their employees choices concerning recognition awards.
