Tempted by tax?

Article Abstract:

The prospects for tax accountants remain promising despite the increased competition for tax accounting positions. In London, newly qualifieds can receive a premium of about 2,000 pounds sterling, while salaries can range between 16,000 pounds to 27,000 pounds. Individuals who plan to enter the tax accounting profession should alsochoose their field of specialization. These may include coporation tax, personal tax, international tax, value-added tax, employee benefits and renumeration, technical training, and tax investigation. However, career opportunities are more limited for senior accountants since most individuals become tax specialists before or after they qualify. In addition, tax examinations are optional in order to have successful careers. Experience and continuous training are what counts for tax specialists. The experiences of twotax accountants are described.

Making the most of unit trusts

Article Abstract:

Authorized unit trusts enable small investors to tap the full benefits of diversification in today's international stock markets. The unit trust market, once considered disreputable, has changed significantly and has matured into a respectable vehicle for portfolio management. It is now dominated by well-known financial institutions that usually provide specialized investment products to their clients. These institutions also provide unit trusts that provide genuine portfolio management. This kind of unit trust usually has a minimum investment level of around 10,000 pounds sterling, an initial charge below 5%, and is designed to cater to an investor's whole portfolio.
