Article Abstract:

Incoming 1997-1998 Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Chairman Don Penny plans to reposition chartered accountants as foremost business advisers. According to Penny, the association should immediately act on its plan for the profession to reinvent itself as time is of the essence. Penny is known for his no-nonsense perspective and management expertise. He was responsible for catapulting the three-partner firm he joined in 1962 into the eleventh-biggest in Canada in 1997.

She'll fight for the profession

Article Abstract:

The Board Chmn of both the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp (CBC) vigorously defends CBC's decisions to slash its budget by roughly $400 million since 1995. The profound transformations which have affected the CBC have also affected the accounting profession, which Saucier has vowed to defend by ensuring that society recognizes the significant role accountants have to play and the accounting profession's leadership.

Article Abstract:

Marc Paradis was selected as the new chairman and CEO for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants for the 1992-93 period. The 47-year-old Quebec native hasestablished a distinction of successfully managing critical organizational situations in his previous capacities, specifically as former president of the Ordre des comptables agrees du Quebec. Paradis earned his designation as chartered accountant in 1970 and became a partner in 1978.
