Shaping alumni careers

Article Abstract:

Alumni career programs, created through proper planning and promotion, are a valuable benefit for former students to help them to find suitable jobs. Programs, varying from evening classes to online networking to counseling sessions, help alumni to make the right choice. Organizing a job fair, where employers and alumni come together, is the most painstaking task. Personal attention of the counsellor can help in meeting the individual needs of a candidate. Different program strategies are discussed.

Proof of worth: career services help leads to better jobs faster

Article Abstract:

A survey was conducted on 275 graduates to determine the involvement of career services office in helping them locate their first jobs. Though graduates of different majors located their first jobs through these centers, it was the Quant and dual-business graduates who benefited the most. Further, graduates who acquired jobs through these services assessed it as being superior to jobs obtained from any other source as they earned a high salary and had to face less job turnovers.

A survey of recruiters on alumni participation in campus interviews

Article Abstract:

A survey of campus recruiters reveals that a large percentage of organizations are interested in using career services centers for tapping alumni to recruit personnels. It also shows that career services offices have different ways of interviewing alumni. The survey was conducted by the career services staff of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, TN, on 130 recruiters from different organizations.
