A steady-state kinetic model can be used to describe the growth of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold

Article Abstract:

The adsorption profiles for the formation of densely packed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold exhibited two kinetic regimes, a fast initial adsorption wherein ~80-90% of each of the types of species was adsorbed, followed by a slower orientational ordering in which the alkyl chains became more crystalline. The data from the coadsorption studies were consistent with the following trend in the thermodynamic stabilities of the thiol-derived SAMs.

Desorption and exchange of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold generated from chelating alkanedithiols

Article Abstract:

Studies of the thermal desorption in decalin of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) derived from the adsorption of 2,2-dipentadecylpropane-1,3-dithiol, 2-pentadecylpropane-1,3-dithiol and heptadecanethiol were explored. SAMs adsorbed at elevated temperatures are more resistant to desorption than those adsorbed at room temperature.

Interactions of small molecules and Au nanoparticles with solubilized single wall carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

An end-opened single wall carbon nanotubes are solubilized by aniline and then purified by flash chromatography. Other solubilizing procedures used in the study are explained.
