Adsorption and 2-dimensional association of lithium alkyl dicarbonates on the graphite surface through O(super -1)...Li(super +1)...pie (arene) interactions

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to investigate adsorptions of several lithium alkyl dicarbonates on the surface of hydrogen-truncated carbon clusters using density functional theory. Lithium alkyl dicarbonates resulting from the reductive decomposition of the respective organic carbonates can be adsorbed on the graphite surface mainly through O...Li(super +1)...pie (arene) interactions, yielding structures with Li(super +) oriented toward the hexane ring center.

Charge and photoionization properties of single semiconductor nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

Electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) was used for observing the electrostatic charge and photoionization characteristics of 5-n, CdSe nanocrystals in dry air at room temperature. Direct evidence of the photoionization of the nanocrystals and the slow rate of photoionization in the presence of an electron barrier at the nanocrystal surface is provided by the EFM measurements.

Electrostatic force microscopy characterization of trioctylphosphine oxide self-assembled monolayers on graphite

Article Abstract:

Self-assembling behavior of trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) on a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite surface is studied The electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) data show that highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) does not form perfect image charges, apparently because of the large interlayer separation and the low density of states near the Fermi level.
