Aerogel-coated metal nanoparticle colloids as novel entities for the synthesis of defined supported metal catalysts

Article Abstract:

The totally inorganic-based composite colloids, after the removal of surfactants, can be anchored to conventional solid supports (gamma-alumina, carbons) upon mixing. The application of a high temperature resulted in the formation of strong covalent linkages between the colloids and the support because of the condensation of surface groups at the interface.

Tracer diffusion in colloidal gels

Article Abstract:

The effect of spatial correlation caused by aggregation is examined by studying the tracer self-diffusion in systems of frozen randomly distributed hard spheres (FHS). Strong heterogeneity of the mean square displacement is observed at small spherical tracers and it is related to the size distribution of pores.

Glassy arrest in colloidal fluids with size polydispersity

Article Abstract:

Depletion mapping framework is used for extending the asymptotic prediction of the glass transition to incorporate size polydisperisity. Energy landscape formulation of the transition, the relevance of subcellular crowding, recombinant protein expression and osmotic stress in microbial organisms are described.
