Aggregation of perfluoropolyether carboxylic salts in aqueous solutions. Fluorescence probe study

Article Abstract:

The study was carried out to determine the aggregation numbers and rate constants of intramicellar fluorescence quenching as a function of the surfactant concentration, and to evaluate the effects of counterion and PFPE chain length. The comparison of aggregation numbers and the kinetic data for surfactants with different chain length suggested that at concentrations close to critical micellar concentration (CMC), the PFPE-3-Na surfactant forms loose aggregates permeated with water molecules.

Quantum state-resolved C[O.sub.2] collisions at the gas-liquid interface: surface temperature-dependent scattering dynamics

Article Abstract:

Energy transfer dynamics at the gas-liquid interface are examined as a function of surface temperature by using C[O.sub.2] + perfluorinated polyether (PFPE) and molecular dynamics simulations of C[O.sub.2] + fluorinated self-assembled monolayers (F-SAMs). The experiments as a function of surface temperature have disclosed an increase in both sticking probability and rotational/translational temperature of the impulsive scattering (IS) component.

Thermodynamics of confirmed perfluoropolyether films on amorphous carbon surfaces determined from the time-dependent evaporation kinetics

Article Abstract:

The evaporation of molecularly-thin films of nonfunctionalized perfluoropolyether's (PFPE's) from amorphous carbon surfaces was studied. The time-dependent evaporation rates were used to obtain the film thickness dependence of the activation energies for PFPE evaporation.
