Analysis of the polarization distribution in a polar perhydrotriphenylene inclusion compound by scanning pyroelectric microscopy

Article Abstract:

Scanning pyroelectric microscopy was used to investigate the polarization distribution in a polar perhydrotriphenylene (PHTP) inclusion compound. The PHTP acceptor (A) and donor (D) crystals were found to grow as 180 degrees twins. The polarization in the A and D domains was also found to be nearly constant, implying that the alignment of most of the molecular dipoles are parallel. These findings indicate that the A groups predominantly cover the growing c-faces.

Growth-induced effects of polarity in molecular crystals: comparison of Schottky- and Markov-type models with Monte Carlo simulations

Article Abstract:

A simple Schottky-type (S) description of orientation defect formation, including an amendment discussing the fate of primary Schottky defects is presented. It is predicted from the temperature dependence of defect probability that in real materials crystallizing in a centric group, a defect level typically of a new percent or more may develop if growth occurs at elevated temperature.

On the theory of time-resolved X-ray diffraction

Article Abstract:

A fully quantized description of light and matter is used for deriving the basic theoretical formulation for X-ray diffraction with pulsed fields. The results have highlighted the relation between the signal and the time-dependent quantum distribution of internuclear positions, including thermal effects.
