Analysis of the roles of nitrogen and oxygen in the synthesis of an alcohol polymer during plasma-induced reactions

Article Abstract:

The roles played by nitrogen and oxygen in the formation of a 1-butanol polymer is examined. Nitrogen is found to be the key species for forming a stable 1-butanol polymer and the increase in the ratio of nitrogen in the polymer leads to an increase in the viscosity of the polymer whereas oxygen prevents the formation of the polymer.

Analysis of the thermal properties of a liquid 1-butanol polymer composed during a plasma-induced reaction

Article Abstract:

The investigation of the thermal properties of liquid 1-butanol polymer created during a plasma-induced reaction showed some hydrogen to be electrically trapped as quasi-stable ions around negatively polarized OH and/or C=O bonds in the polymer which contributes to both electrical conductivity and the desorption of hydrogen.

Adsorption, coadsorption, and reaction of acetaldehyde and No2 on Na-Y, FAU: an in situ FTIR investigation

Article Abstract:

The adsorption of acetaldehyde and its coadsorption and reaction with NO2 have been investigated on a Na-Y, FAU zeolite using in situ FTIR spectroscopy. Acetaldehyde adsorbs strongly over Na-Y and desorbs molecularly at around 400 K with very limited extent of condensation or polymerization.
