Bridging of nonionic reverse micelles by a myelin transmembrane protein

Article Abstract:

Membrane proteins have significant biological roles. A study on the physical and chemical effects of the transmembrane protein myelin proteolipids on a ternary mixture composed of tetraethylene glycol monododecyl ether, dodecane and water was conducted. The perturbation caused by the myelin proteolipid and the structure of reverse micelles were analyzed using small-angle X-ray scattering. A homogeneous phase was observed at 29 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the presence of the transmembrane protein resulted in the formation of oblate ellipsoids by the prolate reverse micelles.

Salt effects on the dynamics of incorporation of organic coions into micelles

Article Abstract:

The inclusion of a series of homologous N-alkylpyridinium cations into the cationic micelles, CTACl and hexadecyltrimethylammonium acetate, has been studied through time-resolved fluorescence decay spectroscopy with pyrene as the probe. The experiments were carried out over a wide range of concentrations of detergent and added common counterion salt. The results are given in terms of a simple pseudophase model that provides an estimate of the location of the transition state for micellar entry.

Electrochemical and optical study of carotenoids in TX100 micelles: electron transfer and a large blue shift

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the oxidation waves of 8'-apo-beta-caroten-8'-al and 8'-apo-beta-8'-nitrile in TX100 micelles are discussed. This work investigated the electron transfer of incorporated carotenoids to an electrode and the effect of water on carotenoids.
