Broadband sum frequency generation spectroscopy to study surface reaction kinetics: A temperature-programmed study of CO oxidation on Pt(111)

Article Abstract:

A novel approach to in-situ monitoring of reaction kinetics on surfaces is demonstrated, using vibrational sum frequency generation (VSFG). The study concluded that at high coverage of oxygen the rate of CO oxidation is independent of the CO coverage, which implies that the Pt-O bond breakage is the rate-determining step.

Promotional effect of reduction treatments of ptIn(ferrierite) on its activity in the SCR of NO with methane. Kinetics and novel characterization studies

Article Abstract:

K-ferrierrite co-exchanged with Pt and In, with different pretreatments, is characterized by EXAFS, TDPAC, TPR, and hydrogen chemisorptions. The presence of different In and Pt species is correlated with activity and selectivity during the NO selective reduction (SCR) with CH4 in the presence of excess oxygen.

The extrinsic precursor kinetics of methane adsorption onto ethylidyne-covered Pt(111)

Article Abstract:

Quantitative description of Methane adsorption on ethylidyne-covered Pt(111) is possible using a kinetic model. This model forces adsorbing molecules through an extrinsic precursor, from which they may desorb or migrate to binding sites on the surface.
