Charge reduction in a vermiculite by acid and hydrothermal methods: A comparative study

Article Abstract:

A comparative study on acid and hydrothermal methods as ways to reduce interlamellar charge is carried out on a vermiculite. It is shown that the application of hydrothermal treatment is a new route to obtain the porous material with a particular interest as heterogeneous catalysts, starting from mineral clays with a high density of charge.

A study of the thermolysis of the metal precursor

Article Abstract:

Thermal methods and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy have been used to analyze the thermolysis of the ligands of supported nickel acetylacetonate. The results seen at increasing calcination temperature indicate a redistribution of Ni2+ on the surface sites of the support and the progressive development of nickel aluminate species.

Distribution of water and counterions in vermiculite clays

Article Abstract:

The competitive adsorption between water and counterions for sites on a charge surface has been assessed. It is concluded that the water-counterion distribution between the clay plates as reported by G.D. Williams and colleagues is not inconsistent with the electrostatic principles on which the Poisson-Boltzmann equation is based.
