Chromophore orientations upon irradiation in gratings inscribed on azo-dye polymer films: a combined AFM and confocal Raman microscopy study

Article Abstract:

The recording of the diffraction gratings on polymer thin films with azobenzene molecules were done by using the atomic force microscopy (AFM) and confocal micro-Raman studies. The molecular orientation processes involved during the writing of a holographic grating on a p(DR1M) homopolymer film, using two orthogonal and linearly polarized laser beams and during the first steps of the grating post-irradiation, were investigated using a single beam of circular 'RCP' polarization.

Construction of self-assembled ultrathin polyoxometalate/1,10-decanediamine photochromic films

Article Abstract:

The self-assembly was used to fabricate the series of polyoxometalates (POM)/1,10-decanediamine ultrathin films and their photochromic properties were investigated. It was seen that the improved photochromic properties of the films, related to the reduction potentials of the POM, were attributed to the lower O 2p electronic binding energy and higher proton affinity of the POMs.
