Combining small angle neutron scattering (SANS) and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) measurements to relate diffusion in agarose gels to structure

Article Abstract:

Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) measurements are conducted on agarose hydrogels to link their microscopic structure to the diffusivity to solutes at different scales. Prediction of the FCS autocorrelation functions for solutes from a cell model demonstrated a lack of sensitivity of this technique for multicomponent analysis.

Computer simulation of incommensurate diffusion in zeolites: understanding window effects

Article Abstract:

The adsorption and diffusion of linear alkanes in ERI-, CHA-, and LTA-type zeolites is studied. ERI-, CHA-, and LTA-type zeolites consist of cages separated by 0.4 nm wide windows and these windows form large free energy barriers to diffusion.

Diffusion and partitioning of solutes in agarose hydrogels: the relative influence of electrostatic and specific interactions

Article Abstract:

The diffusion and binding properties of an agarose gel is investigated and the data is interpreted with the models describing solute diffusion in the gel, which results for the electrical, steric, and chemical interactions.
