Comparison of the supramolecular structures of two glyco lipids with chiral and nonchiral methyl-branched alkyl chains from natural sources

Article Abstract:

Two alkyl glycosides with the same type of disaccharide headgroups (melibiose) and different methyl-branched alkyl chains, short chiral (extracted from an animal source) and long nonchiral (extracted from a plant source), were synthesized in a study. Results showed that the method of methylation of the chain controls the self-assembly and could explain different biological functions for either plants (variable temperature) or animals (constant temperature).

Ionic liquids based on dicyanamide anion: Influence of structural variations in cationic structures on ionic conductivity

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of a broad range of dicyanamide [N[(CN).sub.2]]-based ionic liquids using 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium cations with various alkyl chain lengths and ethyl-comprising heterocyclic cations with variety of ring structures is described. The effect of structural changes on their thermal property, density, electrochemical window, viscosity, ionic conductivity, and solvatochromic effects is analyzed.

Synthesis and evolution of PbS nanocrystals through a surfactant-assisted solvothermal route

Article Abstract:

A surfactant-assisted solvothermal approach for the controllable synthesis and evolution of PbS nanocrystal at low temperature is presented. PbS nanocrystals with different morphologies are all obtained with a high yield through precise control of the experimental parameters.
