Conformation heterogeneity and mobility of surfactant molecules in intercalated clay minerals studied by solid-state NMR

Article Abstract:

The conformation heterogeneity and mobility of surfactant molecules in intercalated montmorillonite clay minerals have been analyzed using variable-temperature solid-state 13C NMR and two-dimensional proton wide-line separation 1H-13C NMR spectroscopy.

Study of local molecular ordering in layered surfactant-silicate mesophase composites

Article Abstract:

The study was done where the synthesis of layered surfactant-silicate mesophase composites was done under hydrothermal conditions and their framework investigated using solid state NMR and X-ray diffraction methods. The results obtained are compared with studies reported on other surfactant-silicate mesoporous materials.

Binding of binary surfactants to sodium poly(l-glutamate) as studied by potentiometric titration and circular dichroism

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the binding of tetradecylpyridinium chloride, decylammonium chloride and their mixtures to sodium poly(L-glutamate) using a potentiometric titration technique and circular dichroism. Tetradecylbromide was treated with dried pyridine to synthesize tetradecylpyridnium chloride. The Jasco J-720 spectropolarimeter was utilized to obtain CD-spectra. Results indicated that part of the surfactant was bound onto the polymer.
