Contrast enhancement by feedback fields in magnetic resonance imaging

Article Abstract:

The detailed mechanisms for amplifying contrast due to small spatial variations in magnetic resonance (MR) parameters through the individual and joint feedback fields of the distant dipolar field and radiation damping are proposed. The understanding of such mechanisms presents insight into the use of such feedback fields in current MR imaging and MR microscopy experiments and inspires the future design of pulse sequences that might ultimately grant the user control in tuning the contrast amplification factor, thereby surmounting specific experimental constraints.

Nonlinear enhancement of oxygen evolution in thylakoid membranes: Modeling the effect of light intensity and beta-cyclodextrin concentration

Article Abstract:

Electron transport through photosystem II, measured as oxygen evolution (OE), is investigated in the isolated thylakoid membranes treated with beta-cyclodextrin and irradiated with white light of variable intensity. The results revealed that the light-response curves of oxygen evolution are well fitted with a hyperbolic function, the shape of which is not affected by the beta-CD concentration.
