Coupled diffusion of mixed ionic micelles in aqueous sodium dodecyl sulfate + sodium octanoate solutions

Article Abstract:

A simple treatment of mixed surfactant diffusion developed on the basis of NP equations for the fluxes of free surfactant monomers, free counterions and a single micelle species of locally averaged composition is presented. Taylor dispersion and differential refractometry are used to calculate ternary mutual diffusion coefficient for aqueous sodium dodecyl sulfate + sodium octanoate solutions.

Coupled diffusion of mixed methanol+ethanol clusters in carbon tetrachloride solutions

Article Abstract:

The coupled diffusion of mixed alcohols in a nonpolar solvent is studied by measuring ternary mutual diffusion coefficients for methanol + ethanol in carbon tetrachloride solutions. The results are interpretated by relating the measured total alcohol fluxes to the fluxes of the alcohol monomers and associated species.

Nucleophilic substitution reaction at liquid/liquid interfaces: Molecular dynamics simulation of a model S(sub N)1 dissociation reaction at the water/carbon tetrachloride interface

Article Abstract:

A detailed study of the dissociation step of a model S(sub N)1reaction at the water/carbon tetrachloride interface is presented. The findings suggest a significant increase of the ionic dissociation barrier height and of the reaction free energy at the interface relative to bulk water.
