Crystal growth of trans-azobenzene in a magnetic field of 80 kOe

Article Abstract:

The crystal growth of trans-azobenzene was studied in a magnetic field of 80 kOe. The crystallographic axes were obtained through X-ray diffraction and contrasted with the magnetic axes. The crystals grew in such a way that the magnetic chi3 axis is parallel to the direction of the field. The magnetic energy has a minimum in the chi3 direction. Hence, the crystals with a substantial number of unit cells can be stabilized by rotating in this direction against thermal disordering.

Magnetic separation of metal ions

Article Abstract:

It is observed that in the magnetic separation of metal ions, the adsorption activities play an effective role as well as the magnetic susceptibilities. It is demonstrated that the separation makes effective use of the adsorption activities as well as the magnetic susceptibilities.

Magnetic orientation under gravity: biphenyl and naphthalene crystals

Article Abstract:

The crystal growth is investigated in horizontal and vertical magnetic fields of 80 KOe. The crystallographic axes are determined by X-ray diffraction and are compared with the magnetic axes.
