Diamond cubic phase of monoolein and water as an amphiphilic matrix for electrophoresis of oligonucleotides

Article Abstract:

A cubic liquid crystal formed by the nonionic monoglyceride monoolein and water as a porous matrix is used for electrophoresis of oligonucleotides. The cubic phase formed by monoolein and water is capable of separating oligonucleotides according to size, secondary structure and flexibility, but the slow migration means that the main interest in the cubic phase is not a replacement for conventional gels.

Segregation of lipid and polymer in emulsion droplets captured by confocal laser scanning microscopy

Article Abstract:

The phase behaviors of the subsystems of the ethyl acetate (EtAc)/monoolein/polyethylene glycol-poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG)/ water system are determined. The lipid/polymer phase separation by means of a traditional non-time-resolved confocal laser scanning microscopy is demonstrated.

On the self-assembly of monoolein in mixtures of water and a polar aprotic solvent

Article Abstract:

The main focus of this study is on the monoolein (MO), a metabolite that is located in the upper intestine and is useful in the fat digestion. A research is conducted to examine monoolein in excess water and the results are discussed.
