Diffusion-controlled photochemical reactions in membranes, photodimerization of 6-(9-anthroloxy) stearic acid in POPC bilayers under steady-state irradiation

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates the relationship between bimolecular kinetics and molecular parameters in a homogenous bilayer. The reaction between a gound-state and an excited 6-(9-anthroyloxy) stearic acid molecule to yield to a head-to-tail photodimer by steady-state irraditation is discussed.

Recipes for analyzing diffusion-controlled reactions in two dimensions: time-resolved and study-state measurements

Article Abstract:

The purpose of the study was to remove the tedium from the analysis of data pertaining to fluorescence quenching studies in two-dimensional (2D) systems without introducing unacceptably large errors in the values of the retrieved photo stationary. Photo stationary experiments are conducted with a view to determine lateral diffusion coefficients, which needs to be complemented with time-resolved measurements.

Photodimerization of P2VB on Au(111) in solution studied with scanning tunneling microscopy

Article Abstract:

The photodimerization of 1,4-bis(beta-pyridyl-2-vinyl)benzene (P2VB) was investigated on Au(111) in solution by using electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (ECSTM). The higher resolution STM images reveal the structural details before and after photochemical reaction.
